An Emergency Nurse is a specialist which works in emergency rooms to provide direct care and consultation to patient. These are those advanced registered practiced nurses which serve a specific group of people. E.N. are more qualified and trained than other nurses as their assessment skills are focused in one specialty.

Educational Requirements for becoming an Emergency Nurse

Emergency nurses are those advanced practiced nurses who have completed a specialized graduate degree program and have a Masters or Doctorate degree in nursing science. One can not plan to start his career as an Emergency Nurse without passing NCLEX exam conducted by the National Council of State Board of Nursing. Only after qualifying NCLEX exam one can get a license to practice legally as an Emergency Nurse in any clinical setting of United States.

Job Responsibilities:

Emergency nurses perform following important functions in medical community:

Clinical Practice: They perform all the duties as registered nurses and other health care professionals. They serve patients in hospital emergency departments, helicopters, urgent care centers, ambulances, cruise ships, spot arenas, industry or anywhere where there is a medical emergency. They are responsible for taking decisions, as what to do first. They prioritize injuries, make ethical decisions and implement changes in routine procedures also.

Teaching: Emergency nurses educate people through different programs to promote wellness and prevent injuries. They guide people on different topics like alcohol awareness, helmet safety, gun safety and child passenger safety.

Management and Research: Emergency nurses can also serve as administrators, managers and researchers who work for health care.

Some common areas of specialization for an emergency nurse include: pediatric nursing, geriatrics, injury prevention and trauma. They must be always prepared to serve people in any situation.

Emergency Nurses can find a job in different areas as:• Emergency Departments• Health Care Administration• Urgent care centers• Hospitals• Military• Poison Control centers• Research Institutes• Community• Camps• Special events• Travel facilities• State EMS offices/ State Board of Nursing• Pharmaceutical companies• Crisis Intervention Centers

Emergency Nurses have many advancement opportunities in the future. They can become Physicians or enter management, if they continue their education. These registered nurses have specialized education and experience of caring emergency patients. They should update their education to stay informed about the latest trends, issues and procedures in medicine today. They are considered as multi skilled in nursing field. These nurses can easily find a job in any health care sector of their own choice. They can open their own business in health care products and services while some can plan to go for teaching and research also.

The average annual salaries of Emergency Nurse in United States are in between $ 65,000 to $ 110, 000 and they get many health benefits also. These figures can vary depending on the geographical location, experience, education, and type of facility one is working for. So, another renowned name in the medical field after Physicians can be Emergency Nurse.

Hi All ! My name is Keeley Peterson and I have served as a Medical Assistant for quite a long years. I have absolutely loved the health care genre, and have decided to extend my love for the medical field by sharing my medical training experience & http://www.nclexexamquestions.org/emergency-nurse/“> Emergency Nurse with all who wish to join this noble cause of serving the ailimg humans.

Justice JC Shah, former Chief Justice of India was appointed by Morarji Desai, then Prime Minister in 1977 to examine the excesses during the draconian emergency days (1975-77). Shah Commission report was submitted to Indian Parliament in August 1978. When Indira Gandhi came back to power in 1980, she removed all the copies of the reports without any epitaph. This report is the only official document of the dark days of Indian politics. Mr Era Sezhian, a celebrated Parliamentarian has brought out this report under the title ‘Shah Commission Report – Lost and regained” and the book was released on 19th December 2010 by LK Advani. In an exclusive interview for PodUniversal, Mr Era Sezhian explains the circumstances under which, he undertook to release this book.

Question by Joe S: Is there a way I can get emergency management training?
I live in south jersey just outside of philadelphia. I am a college student and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way I can get this training and from where? NJ’s EM is just for people in government and or private sectors. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Best answer:

Answer by lindypenguin
It depends on the sort of training you’re looking for and why. Is it something you’re just interested in, or are you interested in it as a career.

However some good starting points are:

If your college is large enough it may have a person who looks after emergency management (or business continuity) for the college – they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Try talking with your the emergency manager for your municipality or county or get in touch with the Officer for Emergency Management for NJ. They could offer you some valuable advice.

There are many volunteer organisations who are involved in emergency management (like the Red Cross), the might be able to offer you some training, and practical experience, which is a good idea if you’re interested in emergency management as a career.

Finally there’s this website that FEMA’s put together which lists a whole bunch of emergency management programs from short courses to postgraduate degrees:

http://training.fema.gov/emiweb/edu/collegelist/

There are some online courses scattered about as well, if all you’re looking for is a basic introduction.

What do you think? Answer below!

Article by Dipak Darji

For the last several years hospitalist jobs have been considered by some as the orphan stepchild of the medical community. Hospitalists have been looked upon as doctors sort of in limbo; physicians without a permanent general practice or a specialty making them very much in demand in their community. But some recent studies have just been released showing things are changing. Hospitalist jobs are now gaining modestly in terms of both financial compensation and professional reputation.

Compensation Is Up :-

One of the studies, conducted in a joint effort between the Medical Group Management Association (NGM a) and the 2011 State of Hospital Medicine report (SHM), shows that compensation for hospitalist doctors has risen by approximately 2.6% over the same period in 2010. Hospitalist doctors make roughly $ 220,600 annually as opposed to a figure closer to $ 215,000 last year. The study attributes the increase to market conditions that demand more and more positions be filled by hospitalists.

Interestingly, the study also showed that hospitalist jobs in southern states paid quite a bit better than those in other places. On average, a major hospital in a thriving southern state could pay their hospitalist doctors as much as $ 247,000 annually. Eastern and northeastern states lag far behind – to the tune of about $ 212,000 annually. This seems to line up fairly well with the general economic conditions of these regions.

Attitudes Are Changing :-

More importantly than just the rise in compensation, the studies also concluded that attitudes toward hospitalist jobs are changing as well. Where these types of jobs have long been seen as temporary positions for physicians looking to launch into other careers, they are now being seen as vital positions where career doctors can thrive. In fact, many of the hospitals surveyed in the study now consider hospitalist jobs a normal part of their routine functioning. Many also said that they now depend so heavily on the work provided by hospitalists that they could not imagine providing good care without them.

These changing attitudes might partly be responsible for the study’s conclusion that hospitalist workers are less likely to leave their current positions or change careers in the near future. Unlike many other professions, where unhappy workers frequently jump ship and move to other positions, hospitalist jobs are more and more being filled by workers who are content with what they do and happy to stay where they are; this, despite the fact that they are working harder than they ever have before.

As the medical profession continues to grow and evolve it stands to reason that Hospitalist Jobs will do likewise. This is a burgeoning field of medicine with plenty of opportunities for career-minded individuals. Furthermore, hospitalist work offers a unique opportunity for experiences you might not get anywhere else. It is certainly career worth considering if you plan to go into the medical field.

If you’re a 20- to 35-year-old woman without any children I caution you against dating a man with kids. I did this once and, let me tell you, I learned my lesson. I dated The Cop off-and-on for about six years and I have to admit that love kept me from realizing just how big a problem his children were in our relationship. Recently, he and I made plans to have a friendly, totally platonic drink to celebrate my promotion. He canceled the day of because his youngest daughter had hit her head and he’d spent the previous night in the emergency room. I totally understood why he had to cancel, but the situation also reminded me why he and I could never work and why I will never date a man with children again. The Cop has two daughters and a demanding job, obviously. His youngest daughter was extremely sickly or maybe just accident-prone. It was difficult for us to make plans because we had different schedules, and, to make matters worse, his daughter would get sick (or whatever) when we had plans. The girls’ mother also had a demanding job, so she never seemed available to deal with her own children. So this brings me to my first point: If you date a man with children, you can never expect to come first. I’m a rational person, so I realize that a man’s children should and will come first. But this creates a conflict because a woman wants to feel secure and wanted in a relationship, but if she demands greater importance than his children, then she comes off as an insensitive …
i wold like to do a speciality course aftr Bsc nursing.which course is nice for me as am a male nurse?

Best answer:

Answer by JulesToo
Being male gives you an advantage in a way because you are probably bigger and stronger….something which can come in handy in the ER.. Are you quick thinking on your feet? You could take an EMT course if there aren’t any other courses available in emergency medicine nursing at your school.

If nothing else, know your rhythms. I worked in cardiac and a nurse who knows advanced cardiac care is always in demand. The nurses on my floor all knew Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_cardiac_life_support
