An electrician is there to assist you for any electrical needs, especially those emergency situations when you don’t know what to do. For any electrical needs hiring a trained, certified electrician is a great way to safely know that all work is being done the right way and that you will be in danger. Due to the fact that faulty wiring and electrical work can lead to fatal injuries cause fires and even home damage, it is best to always hire a professional to do any work, especially in emergency situations. In every situation is also imperative to be sure that the electrician you are hiring is licensed and insured. All trustworthy companies and electricians will be able to prove licensing and insurance qualifications. You can check the internet or ask your neighbors if they have any recommendations. Most licensed electricians also have reviews from satisfied customers.

Electricians are glad to help out and can be available on call as they only make money when they do jobs, so don’t hesitate to call one in any emergency situation. Some are even available 24 hours a day to help out in emergency situations.

In an emergency situation it is best to hire a professional to do any work as they can diagnose what the problem is. Emergency electrical services may be needed after storms, lightening strikes, floods, fires, or any other natural disaster. They may also be needed if something short circuits in your home or if you are not sure what the problem is. Anytime you lose power an electrician can come diagnose the problem and provide solutions. Always hire a trained professional to do any electrical work, especially if there is a problem, to prevent injury to you and your family, and also to prevent short circuiting and fires.

If you have any emergency electrical needs you can easily find a local electrician who is trained and certified by looking online, or in the local phone book.

Also, neighbors and business bureaus will give you reviews on reliable service providers. Make to check and verify for licensing and insurance so that you know a professional is working in your home. Never attempt to touch wires or do any kind of electrical work on your own. This can be very dangerous and lead to injury and home damage. In an emergency situation when you lose power it is best to stay calm and call a professional to find out what the problem is.

Article by Shane Watson

There are many internal medicine jobs available to the registered nurse seeking employment. The health care industry is thriving and the need for competant registered nurses in internal medicine jobs is great. For example, the registered nurse who choose a career in internal medicine might find themselves working in a physician’s office. The physician who specializes in internal medicine is one that does not practice surgery. Many internal medicine physicians are family practitioners as well.

The registered nurse who chooses employment in this field might assist the doctor with vital signs, drawing blood and taking medical histories. Working in the field of internal medicine, especially in the doctor’s office work environment, the registered nurse may be responsible for patient call backs. Communication with patients via the telephone is a large component of any internal medicine practice, and it requires the expertise of a well rounded, experienced nurse with a vast knowledge pool of experience. The RN who chooses to work in this environment will find that the hours may be more flexible and that the stress level of the office setting is much lower than a hospital or other acute care setting.

Job opportunities in the internal medicine field are plentiful, however nurses may have the notion that the salary is not comparable to that of the hospital or long term care setting. Most often, this is not the case, because most doctors of internal medicine seek to hire competant, experienced nurses, and are willing to compensate them with competitive salaries and benefit packages. It is commonplace for internists to pay their nurses very well, and some nurses who work in this field may find that their salaries even exceed that of the hospital nurse.

Nurses who choose the internal medicine field may feel more comfortable in this environment as opposed to an acute care setting. This is the ideal choice for either the new nurse or the older nurse whose clinical skills may be a bit rusty from being out of the workforce for a while, perhaps raising a family.

RN positions in this field may be required have phlebotomy skills, which is the procedure of drawing blood, however, the nurse can get on the job training to learn this skill. The nurse who works in the internal medicine doctor’s office may find it to be a fun and lively environment in which to work. The interaction with patients gives the RN an opportunity to use their social skills in a professional way. It is very important to not only have clinical skills in the internal medicine field, but to also have great social skills, as most of the patients who visit the office will appreciate a nurse who can communicate effectively, professionally and respectfully.

Internal medicine jobs for nurses will be even more popular for the RN as the heath care industry continues to grow and as nurses search for a more flexible working environment that can offer superior salary compensation and competitive benefits packages. Many RN’s may welcome the lower stress level that these job opportunities can afford and while still maintaining the ability to utilize their clinical and assessment skills.

Article by K.D. Claymer

The question is as clear as it is unsettling: Are there enough emergency physicians in the United States to fill all the emergency medicine jobs available? Will there be enough qualified physicians in the future? The answer will affect everything from emergency room patient care to the geographic distribution of emergency room jobs around the country.

On a related issue – the demand side – there is no debate: utilization of emergency room services keeps growing steadily. According to the General Accounting Office, emergency room visits have been growing 3% per year for the last several years and show no sign of abating. Driving this demand is the growing number of Americans who are uninsured and who consequently have had no preventive check-ups which might have red-flagged diseases before they became acute and compelled an emergency room visit.

Demographic trends in the US will exacerbate the situation: the US population is growing 2-3% per year which will organically lead to more emergency room visits. The population is also aging which will lead to more patients coming to the emergency room presenting symptoms of respiratory, cardiac and neurological disorders.

Other population trends, such as increasing substance abuse, violence and obesity, just to name a few, will also increase emergency department utilization.

Managed care programs – HMOs, PPOs, etc. – were once heralded as the answer to crowded emergency rooms, but this has not been borne out by the facts.

On the supply side, approximately 1,400 new board-certified physicians arrive at hospitals and clinics every year to fill emergency medicine jobs. This output is increasing by about 3-4% per year but is not enough to meet demand. One study predicts that the supply of emergency physicians will increase gradually to meet demand in 20 to 30 years. However, many experts disagree with this sanguine outlook and predict moderate to severe shortages in the years ahead.

One reason is that not all emergency medicine jobs are found in the emergency room. For example, some emergency medicine physicians will choose jobs in hospital healthcare administration, governmental healthcare administration or medical research. Others will opt to work in non-clinical specialties such as toxicology or sports medicine. Still others will work in clinical emergency medicine jobs at hospitals but less than full-time. All of these career tracks will not help fill full-time emergency medicine job shifts at US hospitals.

Perhaps some of the excess emergency room demand will be met by ER physicians who are not certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). While the exact number of non-board-certified physicians working in emergency departments today is unknown, one study a few years ago estimated that the percentage could be as high as 50%. However, as the supply of ABEM-certified emergency physicians grows, and as hospitals increasingly require ABEM certification as a condition of employment, the supply of these “non-specialists” will decline .

However, many of these physicians have had long careers in emergency medicine and they will continue to work in the emergency rooms of the future if only for the fact that they will be needed to serve the demand, particularly in rural, low-volume and other less-than-desirable work environments.

Another factor affecting the emergency medicine job workforce is the growing role of non-physician ER providers, such as nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs). It is widely believed that one NP or PA can increase the efficiency of one primary care physician by approximately 50%. However, it is unclear if this is also true in emergency medicine. What is undisputable is that these mid-level providers can handle a significant portion of emergency department encounters at salaries which are substantially lower than emergency medicine physicians.

And their numbers continue to grow – by as much as 50% over the last few years – as they are turned out at a rate almost three times the output of US medical schools. The hope is that these mid-level practitioners will fill many of the emergency medicine jobs at hospitals and clinics in the future, taking some of the pressure off emergency room physicians.

Question by DJ: How do I get emergency dispatch training?
I want to improve my chances of working within a police department. When dropping off a resume for dispatcher positions, many places ask for emergency dispatch training and certifications. Does anybody know where to receive this training?

Best answer:

Answer by Caoedhen
You get the training by being a dispatcher… kind of a circular way of doing things, but that’s how it works.

Although dispatch is dispatch, every agency does it a little different. Your being trained by Agency A does not mean you can sit down at a console at Agency B and jump right in. That’s why it is so difficult to get any training outside of an agency. While you are doing the same basic job, the details will be different. You have to be trained on that agencies specific methods, and quite often on their specific hardware/software too.
